Are you a medical doctor?
No we are a team of qualified Australian naturopaths, we are not medical doctors. As naturopaths we receive extensive training in clinical nutrition, herbal medicine (phytotherapy), and human anatomy and physiology. We specialise in clinically investigating underlying factors using breakthrough diagnostic testing in order to determine the cause of your imbalance, and tailor specific treatments for you. We take the time to listen to your circumstances and fully evaluate your health needs, which often does not occur in conventional medicine practices.
Do you prescribe medications?
No we absolutely do not prescribe medications or make any recommendations on prescribed medications. We can work safely alongside your prescribed medications and are sure to avoid all herb-drug interactions.
Do you work with patients anywhere in Australia?
Yes we work with patients by skype or phone and our naturopaths have worked with patients throughout Australia. Schedule a time suitable for you, and your naturopath will contact you at your allocated time.
What is the pricing for your consults?
(skype and in person):
Initial consult: 1 hour 15 minutes $140 AUD
Return consult package: 3 x 30 minute consultations for a total of $180 AUD
Please note; we require all returning patients to commit to a minimum of 3 x 30 minute consults in order to provide the best health outcomes to you. If required, these sessions will be booked in advance at the end of the initial consult. Typically, patients will require 3 - 6 sessions.
For further information on our pricing, please see our pricing page.
Do I have to commit to return sessions?
Yes, if return consults are required then we recommend a minimum of 3 x 30 minute return sessions as a commitment from you to your improved health. We schedule our 30 minute return consults in advance in order to set an end-date for the achievement of your health goals. We have absolutely no intention to leave our consultation process with you 'open-ended' as some naturopathic practices do. We want to see you succeed and on your way.
During your 3 follow-up sessions, we further customize your treatment plan based on your feedback from the initial appointment. The follow-up sessions provide opportunity for accountability, support, and guidance towards your health goals. Unlike pharmaceuticals that very quickly mask symptoms, natural therapies take some time to see the results of the treatment prescription and the changes made. Typically patients will require 3 - 6 sessions.
How many sessions will it take for me to regain health?
This really depends on a few different factors. We are committed to your success. Happy and healthy clients reflect well on our practice. The required time frame for regaining your health will depend on the complexity of your condition(s), the amount of time you have had the condition for, and your willingness to make changes to your diet and lifestyle. You should start to see some improvements within the first 3 weeks of treatment, however everyone is different and what works for one person may not be right for the next. That forms the basis of our tailored approach to treatments, and our requirement of a minimum of 3 x 30 minute return sessions.
What is your cancellation policy?
Full payment is retained if you cancel your booking within 12 hours of your session time. Missed appointments and 'no-shows' will forfeit the full booking amount. This includes initial and return visits.
What happens if I miss my naturopath's phonecall. Will they call back?
Your naturopath will try and phone you 2 times. Once at the allocated appointment time. If you fail to answer, you will receive an email advising that we have attempted to call you. Your naturopath will try you one more time at five-ten minutes past your appointment time. If you do not answer your second call, your appointment and 100% of fees will be forfeited.
Do you provide Private Health Insurance Rebates?
As you may be aware, the Australian Government announced a wide-ranging package of reforms to private health insurance, and as part of these reforms, rules have been introduced to remove natural therapies from the definition of general treatment under section 121-10 of the Private Health Insurance Act 2007. Certain therapies will no longer be permitted to be covered under private health insurance, and unfortunately naturopathy is one of those therapies no longer covered in Australia from 1st April 2019.
What kind of testing can you perform?
We have access to a full range of functional testing. Examples of tests that may be recommended are Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis, SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) Breath Test, Food Sensitivities (IgG), Hormone Profile Test, Leaky Gut Test, Functional Liver Profile, Organic Acids Urine Test. There are a multitude of tests that can be accessed, depending on the health concern.
What should I expect at each appointment?
Initial Naturopathic Consult (1 hr 15 minutes).
During this consult you will be asked a series of questions to expand on your Health Questionnaire paperwork that you emailed through prior to your appointment. A full health history will be taken, and we will identify if any functional testing may be required. Testing is not always required. We will cover some basic recommendations.
Return Consult Package ( 3 x 30 minute consults).
These consult times will be scheduled at the end of the initial consult. During the first return consult, we will deliver your personalised report outlining all recommendations and your treatment prescription. This prescription will be based on the results from your functional testing (if required), and we will discuss your prescription with you so that you are comfortable with the steps required. You may be recommended some herbal medicines, or nutritional supplements in order to support your healing (and a suggestion on where you may purchase these practitioner-only therapeutic products from).
Two subsequent return consults (30 minutes each) will track your progress and make any adjustments to your prescription or protocol based on how your body is responding.
You may require additional consults, but that is to be determined by your progress.
Where does the functional testing take place?
Most testing Australia-wide is organised through NutriPATH, and you are billed directly from NutriPATH for their services. Some tests can be completed at home and sent directly to the pathology lab, and for some tests you may need to visit a pathology centre. NutriPATH has collection centres Australia-wide.
