Rheumatoid Arthritis Naturopath

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune condition in which the immune system attacks the lining of the joints, causing pain, swelling, stiffness, and over time, joint damage. Unlike general wear and tear arthritis, RA is driven by systemic immune dysfunction, which means treatment needs to address far more than just the joints themselves.

As a rheumatoid arthritis naturopath and nutritionist clinic, our aim is to work alongside your rheumatologist to help reduce the underlying inflammatory and autoimmune load driving your symptoms.

Common Symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis

  • Joint pain, swelling, and stiffness, often symmetrical on both sides of the body
  • Morning stiffness lasting more than 30 minutes
  • Fatigue and low grade fever
  • Flares that seem to come and go, sometimes tied to stress, illness, or diet
  • Reduced grip strength and joint mobility over time

Our Naturopathic Approach to Rheumatoid Arthritis

Naturopathic support for RA focuses on reducing the systemic inflammation and immune dysregulation that drives joint destruction, alongside supporting overall resilience and quality of life:

  • Gut health. Emerging research continues to link gut dysbiosis and intestinal permeability with rheumatoid arthritis activity. Supporting the gut lining and microbiome is a foundational part of our approach. Read more about our digestive health philosophy.
  • Anti-inflammatory nutrition. A whole food, anti-inflammatory diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, and phytonutrients can meaningfully reduce inflammatory markers over time.
  • Targeted herbal and nutritional medicine. Compounds such as curcumin, omega-3 fish oil, and specific antioxidants have a growing evidence base for reducing joint inflammation and pain.
  • Food sensitivity identification. Certain foods can act as ongoing immune triggers in susceptible individuals, and identifying these can meaningfully reduce flare frequency.
  • Stress and nervous system support. Chronic stress is a well-documented trigger for RA flares. Supporting the nervous system is a genuine part of managing disease activity, not just a lifestyle add-on.

Functional Testing We May Recommend

  • Inflammatory markers such as CRP and ESR
  • Comprehensive gut microbiome and stool testing
  • Food sensitivity testing
  • Nutrient status, including vitamin D, iron, and B12
