Naturopathy FAQs
June 15th, 2021 + The Naturopathic Co.

What is naturopathy and what happens in a consultation?

Naturopathic philosophy is about helping the body find its natural balance again by looking for the underlying cause of a health issue.

Sometimes with conventional medicine there is a focus on treating the symptoms. In addition to this, GP’s usually don’t have the time to delve deeper into the patient’s health history to get a better idea of how or why the body is out of balance.

As naturopaths we believe in the healing power of nature, and that the body can be supported back to good health through nutritional medicine, herbal medicine, and targeted lifestyle changes. We also rely on functional testing in order to understand the signs and symptoms of the body.

What are some of the most common conditions treated by a naturopath?

Most of my patients have concerns with digestive issues, skin issues, weight gain/inability to lose weight, autoimmune conditions, anxiety, hormone imbalance, and fatigue.

Who is it for?

Naturopathy is for anyone of any age. We work through all symptoms, and know that the body gives us these signs so we can understand where the imbalance or dysfunction has occurred. We also treat the body as a whole system, and rarely treat anything in isolation.

Who is it not for?

Naturopathy is not really for anyone who is not ready and prepared to make some changes in their life. It’s not for anyone who is after a quick fix in terms of their health, as natural medicine can take a few weeks to build up to a result (whereas pharmaceuticals work within a very short period of time). It’s not for anyone who has not psychologically prepared themselves for good health – ie some people are attached to their illness/condition and it has become part of who they are.

Is naturopathy any less effective via Zoom rather than face to face?

No, absolutely not, we cover all of the same information and gather all of the same details from the patient as we would in person. Many of my consultations are booked as Zoom sessions.

How do I prepare for the session?

Prior to the consultation, you’ll be required to complete an intake form and email back to me. This is a chance to list all of your health concerns, even if just small symptoms, so that I can be aware of it all beforehand to make the most of our session together.

Do you have any testimonials?

Yes there are plenty of lovely 5 star reviews on google!

How many sessions will I need?

It’s difficult to say as each person is different and each person responds differently to treatment – its part of the individualized approach to treatment. However, if you’re having to invest in more than a handful of sessions then I haven’t done my job properly! The point here is to get you well in the shortest timeframe and most sustainable way. Usually I see patients anywhere between 2 – 4 sessions.

What if I need further support down the track?

I’m open to ongoing contact and support from my patients, and they always feel free to reach out to me at any time they need help with their health down the track.

How much does a session cost?

It’s $165 for one hour (for one main health concern) or $195 (for 1.5 hours for multiple health issues)

What’s included in the session?

Within the session we discuss your health history, family history, diet, lifestyle, and of course physical symptoms. We’ll talk through any testing options if required. We cover general recommendations, and provide a written report outlining our discussion with a tailored treatment plan.
